As you know there is a hidden "System Reserved" partition before Windows 7 system partition, which contains files for booting computer. When you do Windows 7 system backup and restore, you should backup both system partition and this "System Reserved" partition.
To explore the content of "System Reserved" partition, you may use another free partition management software - EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition.
Step 1. Choose "Backup" from the main window.
Step 2. Choose the partitions you want to backup (system partition and System Reserved partition), click "Next"
Step 3. Locate the destination where you want to save the backup file(s) to and enter a file name.
Step 4. Use default option
Step 5. Click Next to complete the backup.
Firstly, the System Reserved partition and the system partition are corrupted, and Windows 7 failed to boot again, so you have to restore Windows 7 system.
Step 1. Choose "Restore" from the main windows of bootable CD.
Step 2. Choose the backup image file to restore.
Step 3. Choose Windows 7 system partition only to restore.
Step 4. Choose a target partition.
Step 5. Choose partition type.
Step 6. Adjust the target partition size.
Step 7. Assign drive letter or not.
After reboot, there is an error and Windows 7 cannot be accessed.
Why the system failed to boot? After check, you'll also find that I did not restore the System Reserved partition. So launch "Restore" again and choose System Reserved partition to restore.
Follow the next restore steps just as the above steps of restoring system partition and reboot from hard drive. Then you can boot Windows 7 again.
Please note that if the System Reserved partition has not been corrupted, you need not to restore this partition, otherwise, you have to restore Windows 7 system partition and the System Reserved partition one by one.
