How to Backup RAID 5 Disk/Partition with free RAID backup software?

What is RAID 1?

RAID 5 - Block-level data striping with distributed parity. A Good Compromise

RAID 5 stripes data across multiple disks. RAID 5, however, adds a parity check bit to the data. This slightly reduces available disk capacity, but it also means that the RAID array continues to function if a single disk fails. In the event of a disk failure, you simply replace the failed disk and keep going.

The tradeoffs with RAID 5 are a small performance penalty in write operations and a slight decrease in useable storage space.

Minimum number of drives: 3

Strengths: Best cost/performance for transaction-oriented networks; Very high performance, very high data protection; Supports multiple simultaneous reads and writes; Can also be optimized for large, sequential requests.

Weaknesses: Write performance is slower than RAID 0 or RAID 1.

Data B Parity B Data B
Data C Data C Parity C

Why do Windows users need to backup RAID 5 drives?

Many computer users have the experience of system crash or data loss, for example, hardware conflict, bad ram, hard disk drives overload, viruses attack, software conflict, etc. If your system is crashed and then you will realize that you really need backup software after suffering the great pain to sacrifice your precious weekends or dating time to reinstall your operating system.

Some people build a single RAID 5 virtual disk and install operating system, save all data on it. Under this situation, you'll be more likely to encounter data loss problem. A typical RAID configuration is that one RAID 1 for operating system, one RAID 5 for storing data. No matter which configuration you use, RAID 5 partition is most important, as the valuable data was saved there, so you won't accept any problem on this RAID and cause data loss. Why not backup your valuable files with a RAID 5 backup software? This article will introduce a free RAID backup software, with which you can image RAID 5 disk or partitions, compress, password protect, split image file, etc.
